The story of evangelism has to do with the saving activities of God as they have unfolded from the beginning of human history. It is the story of God’s purposes in creation and redemption, of man’s nature and needs, of man’s doom and destiny, and of the possibilities of divine grace received by faith in Jesus Christ, whom God has declared to be both “Lord and Savior.”
It is not possible for one to write a book of this sort without incurring a tremendous debt to a vast number of people. Thoughts and insights regarding the story of evangelism have been gathered from many different sources. An honest attempt has been made to give proper recognition when another person’s thought or material has been used. The writer is especially indebted to Miss Esther Beaty for the secretarial work she did in preparing the manuscript for printing.
Evangelism is both a story and a spirit. It is the prayer of the writer that as the story of evangelism is read, the spirit of evangelism will grip the heart of the reader and he will tell the story to others.
