Election results are closely followed by every concerned citizen. The party getting the majority of votes becomes the government of the country. Each riding is usually contested by two or more candidates, but only one is elected to become the representative. Defeated candidates accept the mandate given by the voters and can only exercise the authority of a common citizen while the winner takes his seat in parliament with the prestige and power conferred upon him with the office he fills.
Although parliamentary elections are important as well as interesting, they affect but a small part of the citizens as far as being elected is concerned. There is another election spoken of in the Bible that affects every person who is born on this planet. On the great Judgment Day when the Lord sorts out individuals gathered either on the right hand or on the left, as we scan the results with anxiety, will you be elected? The Bible speaks about the “elect of God.” In this study we invite your attention to the following important details about this election. First, who are the elect? Second, how is one elected? Third, an explanation of the doctrine of predestination and fourth, what is meant by the perseverance of the saints or eternal security of believers. This is a large assignment, but since it concerns the destiny of immortal souls, it should merit careful observation and scrutiny. To this end we invite your attention.
