"Should a woman be a pastor?"
While evangelicals strive to follow the pattern of Scripture in everything, they often conform to American culture in one critical respect: They exclude women from pastoral leadership. Wesleyan-Holiness churches such as the Church of God (Anderson, IN) insist on the New Testament standard of gift-based ministry rather than gender-based ministry, so women have served as pastors in our leading congregations. However, some Wesleyan-Holiness congregations have been swayed by the evangelical tide and are refusing to consider women for pastoral ministry.
Called to Minister, Empowered to Serve documents this drift with unflinching honesty. It highlights several dozen women whose spiritual fruit proves that God has anointed them to this work. Ministers and ministry students, both male and female, will find here vital biblical insight into their pastoral vocation.
