Centuries ago a man named Job cried in his quest for God, “Oh, that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me” (Job 23:3-5). And then Job added, rather wistfully, “Will he plead against me with his great power?”
There is nothing more distressing than for a man to be uncertain of his relationship with God and of God’s attitude toward him.
