This book treats a theme that its author knew was personal, pertinent, and programmatic. The theme is personal because its central message reports how a Christian believer can experience a sense of belonging to God at such an inward depth that the whole self is introduced to and sustained by an inward harmony, an awareness of wholeness through being loved. The theme of the book is pertinent because the settings in which we must live out our Christian commitment will test our sense of who we are in God’s gracious plan for our lives. The theme of this book is also programmatic in that the author not only isolates, identifies, and illustrates the means by which such an experience of God is gained, but shows how that experience is to be shared.
Central to this book is its treatment of reconciliation. Students of the Scriptures will recognize the many passages to which the author refers and whose meanings he honestly and helpfully expounds in explaining the import and impact of reconciliation.
