This book contains the writings of Daniel S. Warner when he served as the editor of the Gospel Trumpet magazine from the years 1881 through 1885.
His writings provide a walk of scriptural love. Moreover, he found fortifying grace through staying in the Word of God (John 8:31-32). Gladly, he walked with Jesus in that new commandment to “love one another” (John 13:34), always finding obedience more satisfying and sustaining than merely driving in the religious ruts of the status quo (Mark 12:31-33).
Warner became a compelling figure among the people called “saints.” He was always a trusted leader and friend, but never one to claim infallibility. Throughout his life he remained a humble student of the Bible, never assuming personal authority. His writings are filled with core values of that discipleship that comes with walking side by side with our common Lord.
My firm belief today is that any authority D. S. Warner exercises in the lives of current readers will, of necessity, be prefaced with the disclaimer that Paul left us: “Follow me, as I follow Christ.”
