THE Bible receives more intense study than any other book ever written. Translated into a thousand languages and dialects, it is read by millions of people who search its pages to learn the mind of God. These millions have found in its pages consolation in the time of deepest grief, encouragement in the hour of despondency, instruction in right living, and the solution of many perplexing problems. It is the world’s best spiritual guide and has led millions to the happy life.

The value of the Bible does not consist in the possession of a copy of the Book but rather in the comprehension of its message and the application of its truths to one’s life. This implies that one must understand its teachings to profit from it. To be able to name its books, to relate the number of chapters and verses, to tell how many times a certain word appears, to point out its peculiarities, and even to quote large sections are of slight value as compared with a knowledge of its true teachings. To hear the Bible read in an unknown, foreign tongue would impart no benefit; neither can we hope to profit by reading it in our own language if we know not what it means.

Untold wealth is stored in the Book of God. A lifetime is not sufficient for the exploration of its sacred pages. It is hoped that the hints herein given will stimulate sincere Bible study.
