This well-written and informative book is presented by the Board of Church Extension and Home Missions to the church at large as a part of our centennial celebration. It tells effectively the story of Home Missions work in the Church of God during the past sixty years. Dr. Telfer lays a solid biblical foundation for ministry in ethnic minority communities. He spells out carefully a practical approach for evangelism and church planting in ethnic minority communities that takes note of the cultural pluralism in the United States. The author also presents a chapter entitled “Elements of a Healthy Congregation,” which applies to any congregation whether Anglo or ethnic. In this chapter Dr. Telfer relates the principles of the church growth movement to local congregations, describing elements that are necessary for a healthy congregation. We feel each congregation can benefit from understanding these principles.
