The author [of Revelation for Today] feels that Revelation for Today provides the Church in general and Christians in particular, with a reasonable, scriptural answer to this book of the Bible. It is true to Christ, to the Bible, and to historic, evangelical Christianity. It seeks to grind no axe, defend no position, advance no sect, whatever its name may be. This sermonic exposition has grown out of a deep desire to know the truth, to honor Christ, and to help win souls to Him.
By the author’s own admission, Kingdom themes were a favorite study of his. He found his “whole Christian life . . . absorbed by a study of the Revelation in particular, and apocalyptic literature in general.” Little wonder he drew from the Hebrew writer who encouraged his readers to serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear because: “we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Heb. 12:28, italics added).
Read with Bible in hand as the author follows the chapter outline of John’s Revelation [Apocalypse, unveiling], clarifying the fortunes, struggles, conflicts, growth, and certain victory of God’s People.
In doing so, Kempin reveals God as the Eternal Optimist, creatively guiding his people in a kingdom of human and divine possibilities. He pulls the curtain back to assure a present victory in spite of the worst of hindering circumstances.
