I modestly believe that if earnest Christians will give careful thought to the subject matter of this book they will find help in the task of studying the question of the church. In this connection I ought to say that this book does not, by any means, supersede my New Approach to Christian Unity. It covers a different phase of the subject. These two books are complementary, and should be read in a series: The Church beyond Division first, and then A New Approach to Christian Unity, for a further development of the subject.
