In approaching the solemn yet glorious theme of the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, it is our duty as rational beings, as it will be our strength as Christian believers, to search out and heartily accept for the firm basis of our belief concerning it the clear and explicit teaching of our Lord himself and his apostles upon the matter, and then, with that as our foundation, to proceed to the interpretation of the more obscure prophetic and apocalyptic Scripture passages that seem to bear upon it.
