A man who does not read the Bible is no better than a man who has no Bible. Even more tragic than not having a Bible or not reading a Bible is misunderstanding the Bible.
When the Bible is misunderstood it not only fails to show the right way to live, it also seems to condone and approve many vicious and dangerous ideas.
The Bible is a pond out of which people manage to pull some very strange fish. . . .
Misunderstanding can be brutal—even deadly.
The Bible itself says, “Blessed is the man who reads . . . and understands.”
The power of Scripture is tremendous, even when it is used for wrong purposes. It is even more powerful when it is understood and obeyed.
