The modern, really “mod” title, Where Are You Going, Jesus? is not misleading. Gene Sterner wants all of us to realize the direction in which the Master is moving in times like these. However, you won’t read many pages of this volume before realizing you are face to face with the personal question, “Where am I going?”
If Dr. Sterner has any faults, a lack of courage is not one of them. He faces up to facts and meets issues head on. He writes as he speaks: boldly, sometimes almost bluntly, in his efforts to shake and arouse us to action. He seems driven by a passion to enlighten his readers, probe their motives, then challenge them to rise to higher heights in Christ and Christian service.
Where Are You Going, Jesus? is a most helpful and constructive book. However, it will not leave the reader—any reader—without a certain discomfort, as it dissects, inquires, and challenges. You cannot read its chapters without ultimately feeling the necessity of facing up to your real self. You will feel compelled to answer certain insistent questions concerning your basic desires and motivations.
